Importing

Start from a savegame, a Planner plan, or a portable model file.

  1. Choose New model and select matching Game data.
  2. Complete Model name and settings.
  3. At Starting point, expand Or start from existing data.
  4. Choose Import file, Copy planner result, or Import savegame.

Single-model imports start locally, even when you are signed in. Review each preview before accepting, then inspect the graph and save. For cloud saving, see Saving and sharing.

Use a non-empty .sav from Satisfactory 1.0 or newer, up to 256 MiB. Invalid saves and files exceeding decompression limits are rejected. This creates a filtered starting model, not a reconstruction of your factory.

  1. Choose Import savegame, then Select .sav file.
  2. Wait for analysis, or use Cancel analysis to stop.
  3. Review matched unlocks, extractors, inventories, and unrecognized entries.
  4. Choose Create filtered model, or Cancel without creating anything.

What carries over:

  • Extractors need exact matches for their building, source definition, and resource.
  • Recognized purity carries over; extractor clock values do not.
  • Unmatched or ambiguous extractors stay in the report.
  • Matched recipe and production-machine unlocks become model filters.

What does not:

  • Production buildings and inventories are report data, not imported factory nodes.
  • The analysis does not supply running recipes, so the importer does not guess them.
  • Belts, pipes, and factory connections are not recreated.

You can create a filtered model even when no extractors match. If no recipes match, the recipe filter stays active and empty. Check your game data, or use Remove savegame filter in the palette for the full catalog.

Copy planner result creates an independent Modeler graph. Changes never sync back to the Planner or forward from later Planner edits.

  1. Calculate and save the Planner plan before importing by session ID.
  2. Choose Copy planner result.
  3. Enter a Cloud planner session ID, or select exported Planner JSON.
  4. Choose Preview conversion and read the messages.
  5. Choose Import model, or Cancel without importing.

Session IDs require sign-in and a connection. Use a private plan you own or a public plan you can access. JSON files have a 5 MiB limit and do not require sign-in. An uncalculated request without saved graph nodes cannot be imported.

Conversion keeps useful structure, not every Planner feature:

  • Recipe blocks retain their recipe run and clock settings.
  • Raw inputs, available items, outputs, and byproducts become storage nodes.
  • Parallel flows between the same ports can become one connection.
  • Notes, errors, and unmatched recipes become orphan nodes, not working recipes.
  • Unmappable connections can be omitted with a diagnostic.
  • Invalid conversions can be rejected.

Desktop JSON conversion runs locally with available game data. In the browser, included-data conversion sends the plan to the Modeler service. Browser conversion with an imported .kdata profile runs locally. Conversion is separate from cloud-saving consent.

For several plans, use Import Planner data on the overview. Review the source counts, then choose Import all plans.

  • The current local Planner plan becomes a local model.
  • Signed-in cloud plans become private cloud models with their folders and tags.
  • This bulk action explicitly requests cloud creation for those cloud plans.
  • Browser-imported game data cannot be used for those cloud writes.
  • Original Planner data stays unchanged.
  • Existing target models let already imported source revisions be skipped.

Check the result counts and use Retry failed plans after resolving failures.

Accepts .ksfmd, plus older .sfpmd and .sfmd files, up to 5 MiB each. All use Review model import, including current native exports.

  1. Choose Import file, or Import and export, then Import model in an open model.
  2. Select a file, or drop one onto the overview, workspace, or import dialog.
  3. Review the name, node and connection counts, and messages.
  4. Choose how to open it:
    • Load model replaces the current local working model under its existing identity.
    • Import reviewed model creates and opens a separate local model.

Neither action merges nodes into the current graph. The create page offers only Import reviewed model. On the overview, both actions create a new local model. Accepting a file does not update the cloud model it came from.

Native files need their recorded catalog version to be available. Older files without native data use the catalog selected for conversion. Missing data can block import; it does not trigger automatic migration to another pack. Install or select matching Game data and retry. A .kdata drop imports a pack, not a factory model.

Desktop file conversion runs locally. Browser conversion with included data sends the file contents to the Modeler service. With a browser-imported pack, conversion runs locally instead.

Keep the original model and matching .kdata files until you have checked the result. Use Export .ksfmd model for a new portable copy.
