Satisfactory Plus Compatibility
How Satisfactory Plus integrates with the k-mods tooling, with a hard dependency on KAPI and a soft dependency on KDataForge.
Satisfactory Plus (SF+) is a large content mod. To stay maintainable alongside the rest of the k-mods ecosystem (and to let other mods extend or rebalance it without needing SF+‘s own source), it plugs into two different k-mods tools, at two different levels of coupling:
- KAPI is a hard dependency, compiled and linked directly into SF+‘s C++. Used to create the mod’s own data-driven content (new miners, cleaners, air collectors, …) as real
UPrimaryDataAssetinstances that any other KAPI-aware mod can discover and read. - KDataForge is a soft dependency, resolved at runtime via Unreal reflection with no build-time link at all. Used by third-party pack authors to patch or extend SF+‘s (and any other mod’s) KAPI data assets from plain YAML, without writing any C++.
KAPI, creating DataAssetsThe hard dependency SF+ itself compiles against.
KDataForge, soft-dependency packsHow anyone can extend SF+ content with a YAML pack, no C++ required.
